WHY  YOU SHOULD CONSUME EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL …

Recently, phenolic compounds have received considerable attention because their dietary intake is related to significant role in the prevention of many chronic degenerative diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and cardiovascular diseases, due to their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties.

Finally, phenolic compounds have an outstanding nutritional interest due to their healthy properties, recognized by the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) and Department  of Health & Human Service USA (FDA) which includes the health claims associated with the consumption of food components.

This beneficial effect occurs when 20 g of olive oil with a minimum content of 250 mg of phenolic compounds per kg of oil are daily consumed. Taking as a reference the daily consumption of 20 g, this concentration results in a minimum intake of 5 mg of phenolic compounds
